Your deliverance from negative situations lies in your refusal to neglect what God has spoken to you through His Word. Whether it pertains to your health, finances, or church attendance, it is important that you heed the directions God gives you. To neglect is to “treat without regard or attention.” When you neglect the Word of God, you reduce its importance. Instead of it being the final authority in your life, it now becomes just another book you pick up every now and then. Hebrews 2:1-3 says: Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him. The Greek word for salvation is soteria, which means protection, provision, wealth, wisdom, soundness, and health. In other words, it includes total life prosperity. The Bible admonishes us to pay attention to the covenant rights we have received through salvation. How do you keep from neglecting your salvation? Look at Romans 8:1. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
When you diligently practice and meditate on the Word, you are able to put to death the desires of your flesh. By obeying God’s instructions, you maintain wholeness in every area of your life. Satan wants you to disregard the salvation Jesus purchased for you. Neglect is a tool he uses to accomplish his mission. However, 1 Timothy 4:14, 15 says, “Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.” Remember, neglect never allows you to resolve your dilemma. In order for you to rise above obstacles, you must maintain your stance in Christ by practicing the truths you learn. Revisit the areas in your life that have been neglected, such as prayer, reading God’s Word, and so on. Once you get back on track, you are sure to experience the abundant life promised in John 10:10!
